How to install a front PDC in the EV2

Hello,
is anyone or more interested about a short description how to install/build in a "Park Distance Controll" in the front ?
I make this work last week and I think, it was a little bit tricky.
It takes 8 hours, but more than 4 hours only to find and check for the best solutions.

Now I (and my wife) find the PDC in front is really good in the city!

"Problems" where:
- find a plus 12V
- find a Minus (yes, no so easy!)
- find a easy cable-way from the front to the driver area
- find a place for the PDC-switch (manually on/off)
- find a uncritical place for the PDC-wholes (is there no cable behind ??)
....

Maybe I make some pictures and a short PDF-File.

Update: PDF file created, see below. But only in german, but I think, the included pictures are clear to understand how it works.
Feedbacks are welcome

Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

yes please make that pdf-file and some photos!!!

I´d be very interested in learning something from your experience, because I have been thinking about installing a front-pdc in my 807 for some time.

I think it´s stupid of Peugeot to offer such thing for the rear end and not for the front, where it would make much more sense.

Looking forward to seeing your installation manual.

Cheers,

Peter

Hello,
I am also very interested to get this. After enjoying the rear version, we are also interested in using the front version.
My father has a version, which is installed as the holding part of the car-ID-sign (Kfz-Kennzeichenhalter). But it is a C5 and so I am interested in the wiring path for the C8.
Thanks

Werner

The PDC installation in general is irreversible since you need to cut holes into the bumper. There might be a few cars, I suppose, where it might be possible not to use the bumper as the sensor support.

The PDC from Bosch as example is designed in a way that you can do it on your own.

I don't know this version, but I'm suspicious of it! For safe PDC operation, it's useful to have ultrasonic sensors along a long base (use the entire length of the bumper). Only in this way, it's possible to do a cross-echo processing, in other words, sensor A can listen to what sensor B (or the others) transmits and vice versa.

The license-plate bracket solution (a smaller base with just like two sensors)won't work very well when approching like a wall that is not parallel to your bumper or just a post that is in the left or right edge of the car. If you want a reliable solution, use a four sensor PDC and mount the sensors in the bumper.

I know, the ugly holes are not very nice, however there is work going on for radar solutions for PDCs that will be in series production in 2007 and be able to "look" through the bumper.

it is possible to install them under the bumper at the grid. and if they are in black you won't see them. the difference off the bumpers lenght is aceptable.

But his nice grid is only located at the best of the EV2... the ulysse

I have seen systems for about 80€ up to 140€.
I will discuss in the nearer futhur with an radar specialist.
After that I will have a nearer look for that. Since some time I am thinking about that aid. Because we are not getting younger.

It seems to me they are installed that way in factory for the new lifted C5 and high end C4.

Ok, confirmed. Here is a photo of the new C4 PDC (available as an option on the exclusive only IIRC).

Regarding the C5, the 2 central ones are situated at the very bottom of the front bumper as you can see here and the side ones are located near to (external side) the front antifog head lights as better seen on this photo

Maybe this could inspire you on how to choose the best locations on an EV2

today I was getting in my enigine compartment to look for an hole to get inside to mount the beeper for a PDC. The fixing of the sensors seems to by no problem for me. I was already under my car, enough space.
But the hole for getting the cable through. Hmmm I have to think first about that.

Asking several EV2-dealers about a front PDC I got...

...the following answers (also see my thread rear and FRONT parking aid, what's true? - Einparkhilfe hi. und VORNE, was ist wahr?):

Citroen: only one Citroen dealer offers a front PCD for 380,- € (incl. 16% German tax). But another dealer says there is a brandnew Retrofit-PDC for front and back officially released by Citroen!

Peugeot: Almost every dealer I asked offers a front PDC, prices vary from 280...300...350...400,- €.

Fiat: No Fiat dealer offers a front PDC.

Next thing I should ask if the Peugeot dealers will install the front PDC in a Citroen (and give full warranty).

Regards Jörg
