Einparkhilfe vorne Nachrüstsatz / parkdistance controll front

Hallo Friends,
i have to disadvise you to upgrade a front park distance control !!!
It is not much good and does cost 280.- ?.
Technic: Two sensors activated through reverse gear should ensure secure front corners by parking. Forget it!!!! This is not possible.
Position of the sensors is directly beside the number plate.

If i would have known this before - nobody has explained this to me - i would have not installed the system.

So you can save this money, believe me.

Cheers

Are you talking about the original Front-PDC?

We will get our today (together with our new 807) and our dealer said nothing, that it will only function with the rear gear.

So I don't believe that the original Front-PDC is so bad as yours.

Lars.

How can a front PDC get activated through reverse gear? That sounds like complete nonsense to me.

Welcome P807T22HDI and welcome Larsi to our fast growing !

If I understand correctly, you are talking about 2 problems:
  1. The front PDC is activated with the reverse gear, which is not reasonable.
  2. The sensors are in the center and do not cover the corners

Regarding the first problem, I agree with Peter, it sounds like a wrong installation. Maybe it is designed to work for a certain time after engaging R, to eliminate cases where you are close to another car while not in parking process, such as in heavy traffic.

About the second problem: Does the control unit allow addition of 2 more sensors?

@ Larsi:

Have fun with your new car, and why not open a thread in "new arrivals"?

@Joe66: When I get my car, I make some pix. My front-PDC is the original PEU-Part, which is not offered with the car. It has to be installed by the garage.
We took the 4-sensor-PDC, which should be much better than the 2-sensor-version. The price for it is 430,- EUR.
It can't be normal that it will only function with the rear-gear. We bought it in order to make it easier to drive into our garage (Garage, nicht Werkstatt ), which is relative small. And I don't want to park the car backwards.

@bombus: At the moment the car letter (what's KFZ-Brief in English?) hasn't arrived yet. I hope it will arrive at noon, so we can take our car this afternoon.
After that I make some pictures and open a new thread in new arrivals. First I will take my car.

Normally the front park sensor is activated by reverse gear selection. This is done becuase normally you will be in a prking situation where you are trying to get into a spot which means going into reverse and then forward. In addition there is normally a manual switch to activate the front sensor for the situations where you don't use reverse.

This is the standard set up on BMw's etc for the factory fit systems. It may sound odd, but in practice the activation on reverse takes care of most situations. I had it on the BMW 5 Series and it is fine. It it also normally disabled when you reach a certain speed so that it doesn't keep bleeping when you pull up behind other traffic.

Thumbs down

The car is there and now I know it's no original PEU-Part.

My wife drove the car home (or she wanted to drive it home), when I switched the front-PDC on. But: The thing beeped all the time. But there was nothing it front of the car. We testet it 4-5 times and then we decided to get back to the garage.

They were very surprised about this. They had installed this PDC in a lot of cars they told us, but they had never had such a problem. Great start for our new car.

They tried to reinitialize the pdc, then they put 4 new sensors at the control (what is Steuergerät in English?) and then it was okay. Because our little son (2 years old) got more and more bored, we told them to change the sensors at another day.

Probably something has gone wrong at putting colour on the sensors (what is lackieren in English? - I need some more English-lessons...). But this were not the first coloured ones as they said.

So we have no functioning front-pdc yet.

I make pictures of the sensors the next days. At the moment it's raining too much.

I try to calibrate the sensors by myself tomorrow and take the manual with me so I can tell you the manufactorer of the pdc tomorrow evening.

Hello if it is not an original Peugeot part, who makes such PDC system ?
Any reference that we could check on the web ?
I asked my dealer today and he thought it was a joke.
That could prove usefull if it really does work...
Welcome again.

So, although it doesn't function yet:
It's a DPS 4000 by BI Automotive. Look here: http://http://www.bi-automotiv.de/ht...2000-4000.html

Hmm... There is a price of 199,- EUR for the 4-sensor-version. I paid 430,- EUR. Good price for the installing...

By reading the manual I noticed that it should be a rear-pdc, but anyway...

I keep you informed, when it the pdc is okay.

Don't forgett this (50€) solution: http://eurovan2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2323

Can anyone told me, where the garage placed the cable (way from the PDC to the backward PDC)?

Does the front PDC keep working for some time after disengaging R?

Hope so.
Otherwise I couldn't see its usefulness...
