Auto closing windows

Hi guys!

I've read somewhere that if you lock the car having one or more open windows, they get closed automatically.

Today I tried this function, but they didn't get closing; has anyone suggestion? Is there something to initialize or reset?

Thanks in advance.

If your car has the new body software (bsi) you have to press the lock button on the remote permanently for e.g. 3 sek.

On older cars (old bsi) you have to press the lock button just one time. With every locking all windows close automatically. No chance to let one window opened. An annoyment e.g. for owners of dogs. .

You have a car with new bsi software if the mirrors come out if you just delock the car. On old versions the go-out happens later if you switch on ignition.

But on older cars you can open all windows (airing function) by pressing the delock button a second time. No possibility in newer cars!

What a satisfaction! A VERY USEFUL FORUM!

Tomorrow I'll try your trick.

But that seems a bug for me; if I forget to close windows hurrying out from car, I forget to "press the lock button for 3 secs" too!

But this is the reason they have changed it!

On older cars it was not able that one window is open if the car is locked. If one is open it is a technical faulty! But there were many cars with a bug. One windows stands open after locking. I've returned my first phedra for that to the dealer.

Some members here lost things by thieves because a window was open.

They claimed the responsibility of the manufacturer, because all windows had to be closed automaticly!

So, if they arn't able to make it work well, they changed the way it is: If a window is open, now they can claim the responsibility of the owner. He has forgot to close. Own responsibility is gone....

If you have the "superlock" feature, which makes impossible to open a soor from inside in case of break-in, may be you are used to press the lock button twice.
In order to close the windows, it is the first pression that must be longer.
As summer approaches (yes, even in Belgium) i feel again that it is a pity that the airing function does not work anymore.

For those (lucky ones) with electric sliding doors you've got your airing function. Both doors open and it will get as cool (??) as it can get. All others (the unlucky ones or the people that didn't want to spend Euro 1500 for this gadget, like me ...) you'll have to activate this airing option by hand. But it does work ...

Is this airing functionality an add. feature or should it be available in every car?

For me it seems not working (pressing the open button for seconds doesn't do anything...

There is also no automatically closing of the windows.

BTW: What is the dead-lock functionality mentioned as an extra feature for the central locking system. Has this anything to do with this?

Regards
Thomas

  1. The airing function was standard on every car with the old BSI.
  2. You need to press for a second time, shortly (~3 sec) after the first time to execute it.
  3. autoclosing is standard in all cars.
  4. It appears from this thread that autoclosing with the new BSI requires a long press.
  5. the deadlocking is not a standard feature. With normal locking it is possible to break a window and then open a door. Deadlocking prevents opening a door until it is released with the RC or key.

Hello,

in my car (old BSI, I think) the airing and closing function used to work well.
But now, only the drivers window doesn't react, the other 3 windows open and close with the key!
Any idea? Is there something to re-initialize?

Greetings, Ekki

Enjoy the summer, it's allways too short!

You should re-initialize it. Look in the Tipps& Tricks section there is a workaround.
