I have a 2004 c8 2.0 hdi and this fault has also appeared on mine. The car has only done 53000 miles. I've had the solenoid valves and magnets replaced yesterday, done about 30 miles and the fault has re-appeared. Has to be the singularly worst car I've ever bought - (waiting for local citroen service to call me back)

Automatic gearbox

Hi guys,
Mine is a peugeot 807 yr 03 Petrol. 82000km on the clock. It has AL4 gb. So far "touch wood" the gear change is still smooth. But I find that when the engine is ~>90 degrees, the gear change is a bit jerky. I am thinking of installing another Radiator fan to keep the engine temperature down. Will keep you guys posted when I had instal another set of cooling fan.

regards

Well, got the verdict back from local Citroen dealership - the gearbox needs replacing - The mechanic I spoke to said he'd never seen a gearbox in that state after such a low mileage. Exchange gearbox = £2700 +vat, torque converter = £300 + vat add on oils/gaskets/seals etc whatever else they can think of then add on 10 hours labour at roughly £95/hour and hey presto, we're looking at the thick end of £5000. The mechanic had the cheek to tell me that he knew the gearbox was knackered when he replaced the solenoid valves the day before but still did the job (which they diagnosed) and charged me for the pleasure.

Dealer has sent a begging request to Citroen UK to ask them to pay for the gearbox/torque converter and some of the labour costs - fingers crossed.

AL4 Gearbox

Just want a quick update on my AL4 Gearbox.

Recently I had a scary experience and this is quite unique. Was travelling on a freeway doing about 140-150 km/hr speed. Occasionally, had to brake for slowr car infront and as I need a quick pick-up, I would use the steptronic function and downshift to 3rd gear. Revving the engine to ~ 4-5K rpm. All was fine till I had to stop at traffic lights. When I press the accelerator to move forward, there was no gear. It’s on neutral !!! The rev was high, But suddenly, it engages and the 807 just lynch forward .. very dangerous. Once it moves, it will be ok until the next traffic light stop. And the same phenomenon will happen again till I reach home.

2 hours after reaching home, I started the P807 again and this phenomenon does not happen again. Is there anyone faces this kind of “situation” before ? I have called the mechanic and it could relate to the solenoid / valve / gear selector switch ?

Appreciate your input.

regards
rusty
