Red face Lost Headlight Cover

Hi,

I've lost the cover of my right headlight - must have closed it badly after changing the lamp.

But now the bad news: You cannot buy this cover (according to my dealer and all others in my area). Only the complete headlight

Does anyone know a good idea for getting this cover?

thanks a lot

Hi,

In England we have "breakers yards" which is a place where they strip down and sell pieces of cars that have been crashed. Usually they would sell a part like this for a few pounds - a bit cheaper than a whole headlight I'm sure.

Do you have those places in Austria?
If not I'm sure one of us on the forum will be able to send you a cover if you send the money.

By the way - are you sure it is lost? There is not much space to get out of the engine bay of an EV2!

Regards,
Sivvy

Hi, I guess that's what I'd expect to pay for a used (whole) headlight in good condition. What you need is somebody who has a front crashed EV2 so the headlights are broken and the cover can be sold separately.

If you have to change the whole headlight you might as well forget about the cover - it can't we worse ...

First, the headlight is manufactured by VALEO who makes headlights for many car models, so have the cover of the second headlight with you and go to a wrecker. There is much chance that you may find a compatible cover, even from another car make.
Second, this cover is not vital to the car, why not try living without it?

Doesn't the cover protect the dust from coming into the bulbs holder ?

Yes, but if you have to buy the whole headlight, you might as well wait and keep driving without the cover - even if your headlight stops working or the illumination degrades because of dust, you have the same expenses ..... but I would try to find a replacement on a scrap yard or invent a rubber cover.

Have you checked to see if the cover is laying in your undertray.

Another place you may be able to get a cheap headlight is from ebay. I managed to get a replacement headlamp for about 50 euro from a seller in the UK
