towing hook and parking system

Hello,

I don't know for sure the correct english word: damper hook, towing hook, coupling but I believe you understand what I mean.
Question: if you have a parking system (which warns you with beeps if you are too close), would such a hook give problems (false positives, and stay beeping)?
I have a Peugeot 807 with a parking system, and next week a hook ;-)

Welcome Seerdekens,

there is now problem with PDC (park distance control) and a tow bar if the specific cabling set is used - in this case the PDC is switched off if something is connected to the electrical box of the tow bar!

Great, thanks. But what if just the tow bar is there with nothing connected to it?

The towbar itself does not disturb the PDC, works like normal (with the correct electric connection) - you just have to take care that you'll have a contact some centimeters earlier than usual!

The tow bar does not disturb the PDC with and without an electric cabling - with the correct not and also not with another. The hook is not in the range of the PDC. The correct cabling only disactivates the PDC when a trailer is connected with the cable to the car - THEN the PDC is switched off for 2 reasons - 1st it would beep because of the hooked trailer when you drive back a curve - and 2nd it would NOT beep even when the trailer would hit something behind - so no sense to work - even worse, wrong information - so with the correct cabling it will switch off - you get only a long beep when you put the reverse gear in to let you know the PDC is off. Sometimes EV2 drivers do not know this and they put and leave an adapter in the socket which also switches off the PDC for sure.

Ok, great, thanks.
Once I have the hook, I'll let you know if also the front PDC is switched off.

There isn´t any problem, if the correct cabling set is used.

I also am intersted this topic in order to buy a new caravan for my 807 2.2 HDI.
Just a question: buy original piece from Peugeot gadget list or other type (ELLEBI, AL-KO, Westfalia, ecc.)???
I'm looking for a type without cutting part of the rear bumper.
For install my Peugeot Garage.

Thanks

with the original hook you have to cut a part of the real bumper - BUT this is only on the bottom of the car - you would never see this from behind or from the side you would need to be on the ground or under the car.

Pepyno, Lupo1972 is correct. I just had the tow bar installed on the 2nd EV2 and you can not see anything.

Seerdekens: Get the kit from Peugeot or Citroen even if you buy it in the web as it is immediately recognised by the ODB.

Whereas I would be flexible on the metal part of the tow bar and try to get a cheaper one than the official Peugeot/Citroen/Fiat/Lancia one, I would not compromise on the cabling !
