Unhappy Electrical Problems

Ever since the week of snow we had in early January, I have got lots of electrical problems:

1) Dipped headlights come on as soon a a door is opened (but I have the automatic lighting de-activated)
2) Dipped lights go off 1 minute after locking car (again automatic lighting is de-activated)
3) Cannot select main-beam on (or flash them)
4) Horn does not work
5) Windscreen washers do not work
6) Fog lights do not work

All other electrics seem OK (indicators, windscreen wipers, air con, radio, central locking/alarm, interior lights, rear lights are working normally)

Anyone know what the common factor is with the things not working?
Do you know where the relays are located for these items (fuses seem OK)

Car is running OK as normal, drove it 200 miles yesterday and went well, just can't operate the items I listed above so an MOT failure !!

if the COM2000 unit is good (and it should be, as the blinkers are working), then it seems a BSI malfunction.
Try to reset it.
You should wait at least 5 mins after stopping the engine, and then disconnect the battery. Wait 10 mins, and connect it again.
It is not a "sure" solution, but sometimes can help.

(but to tell the truth, in my 307 I had some problem with the COM2000 too, the horn sometimes (but only sometimes!) would not work. It came out, that the earth point of the horn switch was bad by the manufacturer. The garage drilled a hole in the steering wheel base, and screwed there the wire, instead of the original click-in method. Then it was perfect. But your case seems to be different.)

I had exactly the same problems and write it in this forum 2 years ago.

If the mainlight go on when you open the door, and the horn no function, the BSMB5 module (FUSE BOX) in engine room compartiment have become water.

Perhaps you can repar it when its dry, but the complete fuse box is not too expensive about 130 Euros, and the problems are solved, its not difficult to change, declips all the cables, put the new BSM and play again

Its a good idea from the "ingeniery" from psa to put elektronics parts directly under the windscreen, they have definitively surch the best place and take the best plastic case to be waterproof.

My garage wanted to change all cable from cars and i have found thanks from forum its only the BSM module to change and cheap.

Have a nice day

Stephan

I agree with the abovementioned, the problem could be that there is a water draining tube exactly above the fuse box. When it is out of its place or clogged (e.s. full with ice), the water drops directly on/in the fuse box.

So check also that tube if it is correctly placed and drains water.

But don't wait too much because if the contacts corrode inside, the only remedy is to change it.
