Front dim lights out

Dear all,

Please try to answer tihis problem.
I parked my car in to a garage on friday evening, no problem what so ever. On monday morning I started the car and both head dim lights were out. I checked fuses (under the hood, number 10 and 11) and are all OK. Then I changed one bulb and still not working. I even disconnected the batery for a few seconds just in case. The problem still exists.
The car is Phedra 2.2, production early 2005.

Thanks for you answers.

Regards, MKN

Seriously, it could be the answer. Rats ate some cables on a C5 I drove some years ago. Lucky that I had a good mechanic who traced the problem very quickley as he noticed some rat droppings in engine compartment. Seemingly rodents love the PVC covering on electrical cables!

Hi,
I would first use a voltmeter to check the voltage on the bulb connector and then trace furtheron .... good luck, Bor.

I did, I did. No voltage what so ever on the connectors. Fuses ok, green light indicating lights on in the dash board on, hard reset done, rats and mouses checked, .... to the garage in one hour. Will see what is going on. I assume some BC malfunciton. Will see.

Well, this is the result.
I went to a Citroen garage, which did my previous Xsara Picasso and they do my Phedra now. Of course they had the interface Proxia-Lancia, so all options are open. Since it is a good garage, they sorted my problem out. After checking voltages, switches, fuses and all other stuff, they came out with the defective relay switch under the BSI unit in the glove compartment. It took two hours to resolve and locate the problem, because according to the chief mechanic the C8 electrical instalation drowings do not show this relay switch at all and they had never came cross it. It looks like the Phedra instalation is slightly different to the C8, with some additional relay switches. Any way, lights are on now and I am 54€ off.
