Anyhow, South Bavaria and Berlin are nice regions too!
I'm thinking of a "great Rhein-Ruhr-Meeting" for a longer time. I guess in this area of ~ 10.000.000 people more members will join us as at last.

Maybe it could be a real family event like msspider mentioned combinied with sightseeingand fun. Maybe with some specials like geo-catching or "Rallye" etc.
I will help to managed it to say "Thank you" to the forum, because maybe it will be my last meeting (if no RT34 or/and stronger engines will be fit in!)

It would not be an !official meeting! but every one will be welcome!

Because for the most members here it is a question of time, money (over night, long trip) and to participate I guess it would be good if we have a lot of great local meetings alternate to one meeting for all. Again: Everyone welcome at every meeting!!!!

But if someone would organisate a official birthday meeting again I would participate again. Equal if it take place in germany again or other countries up tp ~ 1000 km (one day trip to arrive!).

Fine, so if it's not the official meeting it will be a "open" rural one, that's great! And before 2010 where the region will be "Kulturhauptstadt"! Maybe we should arrange a small "Fabricca Italiana" meeting again with our local guys to discuss it!
But don't even think that you can escape from this Forum with such a meeting!!! Surely this future outlook is something for you to keep you here...

Why don't you organize that meeting as the official annual meeting?

My opinion is: If we start thinking about "unofficial" regional meetings while organising "official" meeting, we don't need to think about an "official" anual European EV2 meeting anymore because there will be not enough participants who are willing to take on a long journey.

Granted, last meeting in Bürstadt in fact was a south west germany meeting with exotic guests from Genua and Berlin. But keep the chance to have a real anual european meeting !!!!

But surveying feed back to date it seems that enthusiasm isn't huge !!!

I hope everything will fit.

Since the holidays are already planned and ordered.

Friends take a suitable date and search a beautiful region (which is not too far away).

I agree! So let's continue searching the proper location for the official annual meeting. Looks like it will be Berlin since nobody else really took the responsibility to host the meeting at a different location.

That's why I don't come out with this thoughts up to now.

I would like to prefer a total european meeting, too. But I can't close my eyes for the facts. The expierence of the last two meetings is, that the most of the members will not participate in that reasons I told you before. It would be the same next time! Be sure!

You will see, there will not be more than max. 20 members again, even if more will tell us before to participate. To expansive in time and money and uninterested and childs.
Thats fact for me! Last year we made a poll and in a short range before most of these who voted for suddenly remember a forgotten event or etc....

In this case (only 20 members on a official meeting expected) it is ok to plan local meetings to give more members a chance to meet others. You will meet other members on a local meeting than on an european meeting. Think about the portugues or Uk members and the long distances. So why should the portugues don't meet in Portugal? Its the same for the germans, netherlands, french etc.... The most ones which are interested and able to join the european meeting will participate even if there are local meetings! The local one isn't expansive, need for time is less and you could participate just for hours, maybe without and childs.

Again: I would prefer a real big european meeting. But it will not be a big one again! I'm sure!

But don't touch the chance of the europen meeting it is honorous to plan local meetings after the european one has taken place.

Thats the reason why I don't talk about before.

@ dirkS: I'm not a admin or contributor of this forum, so I can't talk about an official meeting.

Otherwise, if there will not be an official european meeting next year it could be, that one of the local ones will be it by itself, will grow up......, because everyone is welcome, from whole of the world.

@ ms_spider: ok. let us start if it is out that a european meeting will take place and the date is fixed..

BTW:

I would like to go to Berlin, but I fear Berlin isn't the right place for the members of the south of europe tp participate because the long distances.

After two years in germany with mostly german members it will be good for me to have the official meeting at one of the neiborored countries.

I think that we can organise the 2007 EV2-Meeting in Berlin but I'm afraid you're right: It will be rather an East-German (with some "exotic guests) than an European EV2-Meeting.
And, BTW, feed back on this thread really isn't enthusiastic - seems that only some "hardcore-members" are really interested in "official anual EV2-Meeting".

I`m interested anyway, but not anywhere .... Berlin is very far away for only such an event (...for me!).
In principle, I would be interested in Berlin. But not driving to Berlin.

In German we would say:
Haltet mich am Laufenden - das Auto läuft auch noch länger.

(~~ Keep me informed - the car runs longer, too.)

Ouch! For me Berlin is a little too much far away for an "blitz weekend"...

But that of small local meetings isn't a bad idea, and members can organize them in a easier way. For example: the last week of February (24/2->2/3/07) I'll make a "white week" (winter holiday for skiing) in the Dolomiten; so why not organize an express rendez-vous with our south Austrian and north Italian members? Well, I should write such a post:
Quote:
At Sunday 25/02/07 from 11.00 to 12.00 a.m. I will be present in front of the City Hall of Innsbruck waiting for you for an impromptu meeting. There is no need to confirm, "who is there, is there, who's not, not" (chi c'è c'è, chi non c'è non c'è).
Isn't simple?

BTW: this is an example!
