The first Eurovan meeting outside Europe

Last Sunday afternoon Kalleh and me had an enjoyfull meeting in Jerusalem.
Although Kalleh did not bring his car with him, this was a genuine Eurovan meeting.
We walked through some of the new city's first neighbourhoods, had a coffee together at Machane-Yehuda market, drove through and around the ancient old city, and finished with a stroll in the streets of the German Colony.
We hardly talked about our cars (Okay, we talked a little, Kalleh is one of the most knowledged friends here and it can be seen by the number of times he was thanked...), but for me it was a natural part of the friendly atmosphere in this wonderfull forum.

Maybe when Kalleh comes back he will post some photos of Jerusalem.

Bombus,

only now in the Airport (using free wireless) I can post the report I have written before:

Israel Ev2 Meeting
Since I was on a business travel in Israel I arranged to meet with Bombus on Sunday since I had the afternoon available.
We exchanged some messages via the forum and he explained to me how to get to Jerusalem when calling me Saturday evening
after I arrived in Tel Aviv.
I finished my meeting a bit later than expected so instead of taking the taxi back to a Bus Station in Tel Aviv I decided
to have the taxi bring me to Jerusalem. I called Bombus to tell him that he did not need to meet me on the Bus Station and
he explained the driver the way to the Hebrew University. We called him when we were outside of the University and he came
out to pick me up.
First of all he showed me his Bombus experiments he is conducting, very interesting (Bombus, hope you get enough proof data).
After that we went to the car park to Bombuses Ulysee (which was actually the second EV2 I have seen in Israel since I saw
a C8 at a traffic light just minutes before meeting Bombus, but those two where the only ones in the 6 days).
He showed me the goverment area (where the Kneset is) and explained about Jerusalem. We stopped and walked a bit
through a greek quarter and a nice market. In the Market we had a coffee and cake (Thanks again, Bombus) and chatted a bit
about EV2s and other things.
Then he drove us to the Temple mount for me to see some of the sights there. Bombus explained a lot about what we could see
and we did some stops to walk a bit and see better.
It was already dark by then, we walked a German quarter and Bombus picked up his son & daughter and actually drove me back to the Hotel in Tel Aviv
since he picked up his wife who is working in Tel Aviv as the kids wanted to do that.
So all in all a nice meeting and great to see Bombus in person.
I also have to say that I liked very much what I have seen during my short stay in the country.
Very nice people and some very interesting things to see. With my colleagues I went to see the Tower of David in Jerusalem
and we also drove to Massada, using the opportunity to also have a swim in the dead sea.
Thanks again Bombus for your hospitality!

Regards,
Rainer

Thanks for sharing your report with us. I love such stories when Forum members meet in person who knew each other just by writing before. This meeting has special flair for me since it also took place at a very specific and unusual location.

Hope to readf more stories like that in the future, maybe the next from Malaysia ?
