Are mother-in-law's in europe as scary as mother-in-law's in the UK?

Hi,
I knew that UK is devided into several ( wonderfull) Islands. But i did not know that they are moving. When did they leave Europe? Did anyone say goodbye or something like please dont go away? Im sorry but i will honestly be missing UK if it moves too far away.

It is common in the UK to refer to Europe as everyone except us! It is still an alien world to a lot of us (not me though) on the other side of "Le Manche" !!! What is the German translation for "The English Channel" ?

Let's stop now!

I can't tell you words like that.

But here in this forum we learned once:

For the (some) netherlands we are the oosterburen. Something like the germans mean that the russians are for them.

Very nice to see here, that we all are really the same (or is the right word equal?) andf friends!

Isn't it just "Ärmelkanal" or "Kanal". I don't see anything offensive here, or did I miss some point again.

Arnd
I don't understand that he is searching only for the translation. I mean he is searching for a special german word for the english people or way of life, isn't it?

Since nobody seems to be really interested in this meeting on June 19th, 2004, let me propose a location:

71297 Mönsheim
Little lake in the woods with large fireplace, tables and little shelter
located behind the open air bath in a small valley

There's a chance to get there by car to drop off larger goods. The car needs to be removed to the open air bath's parking lot. From there, it's like a 5-10 min walk. There are large meadows to play soccer, a lake to take a bath, woods around to play funny games, in summary the perfect place to spend for adults and kids.

For those who come from far away, it's maybe a good idea to spend the night at one of the villages' accomodation locations. The event will take place starting from noon to open end.

PS: If I'm the only one to attend, the party will of course be cancelled.....

Hello DirkS,

is it this lake???:

It sounds good!

Hers a Picture of the lake:
