sold the c8 31 months ago.

back for visit -

well 31 months as a 4x4 nissan driver is almost at an end....... in the past 6 months the truck fell apart - it's only covered 60k miles as well.

new clutch new flywheel new fuel pump new fuel rails blah blah blah.....

in Nissans defence they paid for it all but I've driven a micra for more than a month this year the main reason for the problems appears to be the crappy renault dci engine - they have a habit of going bang.

So I've been looking for a new 7 seater and decided to buy a...... nope not another Nissan OR EV2

I'm waiting to collect a Land cruiser Invicible next week - it's 2 months old and covered 300 miles (the list price is a mad £40k but I have been offered an equally mad discount of £12k plus a decent trade in.

Moral of story - if you have problems with 1 car and jump to another make and model you could have even more hassles

Hi Ian,

Sorry to hear about the troubles with the Pathfinder, didn't really expect that from a Nissan....
The Lancruisers should be indestructable so hopefully you have more luck with that one. Although as mentioned, quality of any brand is not what it used to be.

Only 10 Years ago I managed to put over 350.000 km on a Fiat Croma and later 300.000 on a Lancia Thema (both on LPG) so it's not only Merc that can do it...

So far my XC90 has been behaving very well with the only visit to the garage to have a recall carried out.
It's needs to go for it's first service end of this Month, but don't expect too many problems other than standard oil change and so, although the Volvo dealers aren't cheap...

I'd heard the Nissans were unreliable trucks - sorry to hear you got bit

Did you not consider again the Best 7 seat 4x4....

Though under warranty I have had a new turbo, new front diff, new cruise control on mine after 31 months

It is nearly there now - rear ladder coming next week, just hunting for a raised air intake for a decent price and she'll be 'finished'

yep - and if my heart had ruled my head I'd gone for the disco

a list of faults like that convinces me that for me Toyota is the way to go.

I can't find a decent fault with the lc 120 and half an hour on DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts convinced me that I would go for the Landcruiser.

All I need is a very heavy 7 seat towcar - I'm not taking a very expensive car down a muddy ditch on purpose!

Sorry to hear about your problems. We had 3 Nissans, but the last one, the rather cheaply built Serena, made me lose my faith in Nissan. I don't think you can go wrong with a Land Cruiser, only problem with that one (or the Pathfinder, or any other awd) is that you risk local militant green groups will put "We hate SUVs" stickers on your car

Except for a diesel pump on the very first day, we've only had rather minor problems with our 807 (like the crappy plastic washer lids, broken electrical seat heating, a broken wheel on the sliding door, disintegrating steering wheel leather, when I think of it, it really adds up, but almost all repairs have been done in one day, so we haven't really been without the car much... hmm, and in 2 months the warranty runs out).
