MS IE7, this Forumsoftware - no Login
Hello,
playing around with the Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 I found that the logon-procedure in this forum (Eurovan2.com) with software vBulletin 3.6.5 is not possible! I can enter the UserId and the password and than my UserId appears in the box on the "Home"-Page but in the upper right corner of the same page the logon-field stays and I cannot select any page for which a logon is required. To remove my UserId from the list of logged-on Users I have to start Firefox, log in and then it is possible to log out. I tried this with WindowsXP home and prof and Windows Vista(64). All the same. Firefox works in these operating-systems well. I believe there is a relationship to the forumsoftware because I tested the login-procedures (IE7, same settings of course) with the vBulletin 3.6.4 software used in the Andre-Citroen forum: (forum.andre-citroen-club.de) - all is running well with this version. Any ideas? regards Dirck |

Of course, not only the cookies but also history, cache, forms etc.
In firefox there is a option to clear all while leaving the browser. In IE7 you can clear all from Controlpanel - Internetoptions. As I said, I can switch to the ACC-forum with the same settings .... |

Yes - maybe, but why not when communicating with vBulletin 3.6.4 ?
All the years from the 70th of the last century I've never booted the machines so often than these x86 Platforms. ![]() About using the alternatives this may be of interest. |

These lines are written in IE7 running in WindowsVista64. Login was successful!
In all my tests before I tried to reach the sites via "eurovan2.com" or "forum.andre-citroen-club.de" in the address-field of the browser-window. This is sufficient to reach the portal-page. No leading "www" and of course no leading "http://" . In a freshly installed Vista32 I've had the same login-problems with a (freshly installed) Firefox too when entering the eurovan2 site name without "www" . In the cookie-folder (Firefox Tools - Options - Privacy) I found cookies with and without the "www" . Leaving Firefox with clearing (Firefox Tools - Options - Privacy - Cookies - Keep until I close Firefox) and starting Firefox new with a leading "www" in the address-field shows the same portal-page but the following login was a success. Same procedure in IE7 (after clearing all) it runs! Using the Firefox-Bookmarks or IE-Favorites with the "www" runs. As Arnd an gazonk stated: The problem was with Cookie-Management but in this case not initiated by the browser... Maybe there has been a problem during the UTF-8 update? BTW: In IE7 there is a nice Button "Reset" in Tools - Options - Advanced to reset all Browser settings to the "factory state". Also usable from the Control-panel. regards |
