The overall consumption on the first 2500 km are 9,6l/100km.
Maximum: 11,9l/100km. Minimum 7,9l/100km.

Today I made a day trip to Rotterdam and Amsterdam of 750 km.
Consumption 8 l/100km (not driving fast in Netherlands 110 - 120 km/h).

Didn't drive in the city yet.

Hmm, I think our 807 2.0HDI would use 7.5 at that speed on the flat roads of the Netherlands, even with quite heavy load (was your car heavy loaded?)

But our car used a little more diesel in the beginning than now.

(Last 10000 kms: 8.8 litres/100km. Very mixed driving, but a lot of slow and short rides)

I'm a lucky new owner of a phedra 2,2l 170 hp automatic.

on the trip to the vienna meeting average consumtion is 10,4l/100 km on a range of 2000 km.

I ride here as fast as she can if possible.

We need 10 h 20 min for 958 km one way including 1h 30 min breaktime . 260 km only 130/km/h on austrias roads and a traffic jam of 40 km. We drove around outside the autobahn.

All in all very fast and hard for here. She did it all without problems. 10.4 l is not too much for such a trip. But the old 2,2 hdi with 5 gear box with ~20 km/h lower highspeed need in same conditions between 8,8 - 9,8 l/100 km/h).

Back home and only driving inner city consumption grows up to ~ 12,50 l/100km.

Thats too much for a modern car.

But I like driving it ....So what shalls....

Thats the automatic gear box! If I want to drive like my old gear box: growing up the speed from light signal to signal its a heavy work! If you want the automatik to lift up the gear you have to reduce the gas. Speed will reduce in the same way. With the manual gearbox you can switch a higher gear manually and the big torque on low rpm oft he diesel engine will grow up the speed again even in the next gear. The automatik just will not switch into the next gear if you wants it to grow up and up.....

I doubt that its is possible to cruise from light to light nearly without the gas pedal and save a lot of feul. THe other once in our nervous city of 600.000 people will kill you..........

And yes: If you notice the higher tax of diesel engines and the low difference in prices of diesel and feul feul engines will have a comeback.

Automatik habe ich auch! Die kann man wunderbar auch mit der Hand schalten und mit dem Motor bremsen. Spart Sprit, heute selber getestet.

POL: Do you use the Tiptronic function to go up and down the gears ? Is it easy to do ?
As TJSKD was saying if you let the car deicde when to change gear, your fuel consumption is going to creep up significantly.
I assume that it is a bit of a change from the manual gearbox.
We are expecting our C8 2.2HDI 173ps Auto but sadly no delivery date even if it was ordered mid April here in London.

In the meantime I went to test drive one of the first remapped C8 2.2HDI 173ps Auto SX. The firm is called SPS here is London and the driver (boss of the tuning shop) has a caravan. He got the car 3 weeks ago and has already driven to Spain and back for his Easter holiday!!!

Car will always remain at 110kmh whatever the gradient on the motorway as he mentioned.
He gets 205ps and 455nm of torque after remapping. He drives VERY carefully and only uses the extra power for the torque to pull his caravan.
This is the first tuner I meet who does not burn his engine !!!

He took me for a demo drive and what is REALLY impressive is the speed to go from 50 to 70 miles per hour (90kmh -> 115kmh). The car just takes off.
By the way is it true that it is the same gearbox as the 407, 607, C5, and C6 equipped with the V6 2.7HDI ? He mentions his contact in France told him the 6 speed auto box is the same. it is just the elctronic which is tweaked to accept more or less torque...

Will keep you in the loop when ours arrives and we wish you a lot of pleasure with your 173ps Auto !

Fuel saving downtown

Yes it's possible. There is a great difference in fuel consumption regarding the driving style in the city. I can reach down to 7.5 or even 7.0, while my wife rarely below 9. The EV2 is heavy and I achieve this just by slow acceleration and inspecting the traffic far ahead - shifting the manual gearbox into neutral at 50 km/h even 300m before a red traffic light brings me there just in time ... also a bonus for the brake pads .

Ok got it and agreed !
It works with manual box where you can cruise to the next light.
Have not tried yet with Auto box...
