Peter - P807 2.0HDi 136hp
This evening I have left my C8 at the Peugeot dealer but got the new 807 instead, of course.
Nice to drive in a brandnew car again .Engine seems to be quiter again, the torque is coming in much sooner as with the 110hp (how powerfull the 170hp version must be, when "only" the 136hp version already gives this difference ....). I have read some tests about the Volvo V70 2.0D - same engine - and these tests were very positive about that car with this "little" motor. Just drove to the petrol station to fill up completely, and then home - so only a few km's made. By the end of the week I'll have made already some longer distances - maybe I'll be able to tell something more by then. Already this: the e-doors are slow - will take some time getting used to them! Congratulations and I hope you have much better luck with the new 807 than you had with your previous C8's - if I remember 6 or 9 monthsago you were sure your next car won't be an EV2
, But here we have a proverb saying: "Good luck follows the brave". You're definitely brave and you deserve good luck ! Rgds Bor |

I was very happy with my 2nd C8 without pbl's (compared to the 1st with plenty of pbl's, and compared to the Ulysse I with same engine and pbl's too) until..... the broken timing belt at 117.000km . Luckily mostly repaired under warranty while car was 5 months out of warranty. But it was only a question of money / lack of good alternatives: - VW (Sharan) didn't offer a lot for my C8 altough good offers for a new Sharan (but cf. neighbours the Sharan is not recommendable because of expensive maintenance & -aircon repairs) - Ford (Galaxy) offered almost the same as Peugeot for the C8, but much more money to pay extra even 'only' for the 1.8TDCi - but cf. the SGAF forum still pbl's - I wouldn't pass to a period of recalls again cf. 1st C8 - Renault Espace IV - for same headroom on 3rd row only Grand Espace possible => don't want to pay that money for just a car * The first thing I did yesterday evening is studying the Service Book: - on 2.0HDi 136hp the timing belt needs to be replaced only at 240.000km (normal conditions) or 180.000km (heavy conditions) - this is still 150.000km/120.000km on 120hp version So maybe I'll be more lucky now - cf. one of my sons who just finished his Bachelor Autotechnology (will continu for Master Automotive Engineering) the quality of (timing) belts is improving continuously, let's "wait and see". Let's hope the EV2 finally arrived in a mature phase. Peter Last edited by Peter1; 20th September 2008 at 17:28. |

Well,
. No, I mean compared to non e-doors which I always had - for me these e-doors are just a kind of "show-gadget" and not very practical (don't have small children anymore, don't see the real use/advantage of it). |

e-doors are a gem for those who have young kids...
Not so much for the speed they take to close but more for the absence of dents that the kids might generate when they open their doors in supermarkets, schools car park, etc... Reliability: Our EV1 (Evasion/Synergie) was almost faultless. EV2: 807 was a (electronic) nightmare for 18 months and then no issue (almost). Keeping our fingers crossed for the C8... But it appears to have greatly improved in quality since the 2003 model...

1. Ulysse I 2.0jtd S 110hp: 07-2000 => 07-2003 ~147.000km - only mechanical, engine related pbl's (pulley, turbo tubing: a couple of times beside the road) 2. C8 2.0HDi SX 110hp: 07-2003 => 06-2005 & 101.000km - a whole list (A4) of child-diseases (rear tire wire as most important one, doorgrips peeling off, crumbling seat cushions... ), no electronic but mechanical pbl's (again pulley, accessoiry belt, pulley of dynamo/generator: a couple of times beside the road) - car desperately exchanged for new C8 (dealer very comprehensive) 3. If you go in your profile and click on the option file, you can customise your signature file to include your collection of successive EV2 as you described above !!! Congrats for such a trustworthy EV2 supporter !

@ londonirish:
OK, works - thanks for the tip! Have deleted the pbl's I had with each car - hopefully my current 807 will be without any. "Trustworthy EV(2) supporter....." as said, the cars have clearly their advantages compared to other vans, and I like to drive them, but it's mainly a question of money / budget. And not because of the "superb" reliability till now... Also, the driver's seat position / seat support is not as good as that of the VW Sharan with sport seats - in EV2 I'm always touching the middle console with my right knee which isn't comfortable on long distances. I put a kind of foam on the driver's side of the console with double sided tape (which can be removed without damage with some dry cleaning naphtha). Anybody who has changed the incline angle of the driver's seat in one way or another? There is only a hight adjustment of the seat - I would like to rise the front of the seat cushion just a little bit to improve the leg support. But OK. Today I made my first long trip from Gent to Verviers and back with the new 807, and I can conclude: - 136hp engine even more quiet than the 110hp version - 6-speed gear box combined with 320Nm - wonderfull - average fuel consumption (after ~400km) 8.0l/100km and decreasing .

Most painful is traffic jams in town... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() I almost never use the cruise control..... (don't like anything which is "automatic" - so I'm happy with the CAN version now with the "auto" light and "auto" wiper function as switch position - I simply don't use the "auto" positions). The foam on the middle console helps - when used I simply replace it for a new piece. Would have been nice if the inclination angle of the driver's seat was adjustable.....

yes completely up and down OK, but I would like to rise just a little only the front side of the front seat (hope you understand me
) to have better leg support till under your knees - this way your right knee (OK left knee in UK ) would not touch the middle console that easy, I think

In the mean time, today (since Monday evening) I passed the first 1.000km with the new 807 (while getting some of the boys from a camp: during the week I'm using the car for my work, during the weekends I could place "taxi" on the roof for the boys
).Filled-up: 73l - BC told me the average consumtion since first fill-up on Monday was 7.7l/100km - so BC appears to be even a little pessimistic. Let's see what will happen for the following fill-up. Studied the instruction manual - appearently this 2.0HDi engine IS the same engine as for example in the Ford S-Max/Galaxy 2.0TDCi, Volvo V50/70 2.0D, ... : max. torque is 320Nm with overboost to 340Nm. I'm amazed about the engine's flexibility, recovery, quietness, compared to the 110hp version with 270Nm.
