The foam in the seats now is one of a higher density type, yes, compared to some years ago, but this has nothing to do with leather or not.
Leather is more classy as normal upholstery, but that's about it .

But the foam of the leather seats must have been different at the older models compared to the non-leather, since there never was a problem with the disintegrating seat foams on them!

Yes there was........ only the foam was crumbling, which mostly wasn't that visible because the leather surface itself was not damaged.

I've seen one or to second hand cars with leather seats, and when you know the pbl with the foam is there, you'll remark it.
