Secondhand 807 2.2 HDi 2002

Finally I've bought a 807 for my family (3 children). 4 days after we've got the car we drove to Croatia for holidays (700 km) The available space is incredible, however I needed some time to get used to the car. In the meantime (1.5 months later) I start to like the car.

The hints in this forum were extremly precious and helpful:
1. I removed this strange silicone glue from the rain sensor. Before the wiper never stopped, it was more than annoying. Now it works as expected. I even watched it working in real interval mode. Well, for me it's still not perfect, in manual mode I would choose the interval mode more often. But I guess this is the way these automatic thing works.
2. I let my garage install the cruise control (CC). What a relieve! I had problems after 500km to push the throttel. Now with the CC this shouldn't be a problem anymore.

I (1.96m tall) still didn't find a comfortable position to sit on the front seats. For my feeling the front seats are too soft, and I would like to have a better support for my thighs. Maybe the seats are worn. I've to test the seats of a friend to see if there's a difference.

Again, many many thanks for this great forum. I could eliminate the worst problems with your help. Your hints made my car significant more valuable for me!

Hi Berny, and welcome in the forum!

I´m 2 m tall and I have no problem with the seats. I say, the seats are comfortable as I want to have them!

Hi Berny,

welcome to the forum! I don't have problems with the driver seat. The front passengers seat is less comfortable, because there's not enough foot space.

How much did you pay for the cruise control?

Wish you a nice time on the forum further on.

The seat cushions are less soft when they are new - maybe yours are (is, in case of just driver's seat) worn, or maybe you just were used to harder cushions.

Anyway, the thigh support indeed is not good for me neither. I would like to change the tilt angle of the seat cushion (lift just some mm's the front end) but there is no possibility to do that.

I've put a piece of high density self adhesive foam (1cm thickness, dark grey, it hardly stands out) on the left side of the middle console, so that the console doesn't hurt my knee on long distances.

If you want I can make a picture of it tomorrow. It really helps, the foam.

Regards/Peter

Same for me, being 1.97 mtrs tall I couldn't find a position that was really comfortable. There is no support for the upper legs and your knee is against the center console which is uncomfortable. I had the car from new and had it for 4 Years so don't really think it's related to the seat getting worn.

I have a feeling it might be related to the difference between electric and manual seats. The car I test-drove had manual seats while my car had electric seats. I didn't notice it while having the car with manual seats on a 24 hr testdrive...

EUR 115, most people here in the forum payed less than EUR 100. I'm quite sure my garage did this upgrade for the first time. I just ordered the control device, then my garage called my wife for an appointment to install it. I had not yet the chance to complain about the price.

Yes, it's a big psychic problem: we were very happy with our old car (BMW 520 touring), and now I always compare the new car with the old one. And everything, which is different, is not good in the first place. Yes, this is not fair, but the 807 is doing quite well. Our children love it, and this is of great importance

Exactly, this is what I'm missing. I guess nearly all tall people will miss it.

My knee is well above the console. But the space for my right leg is very limited by the console. My lower leg is always in touch with the console, otherwise I don't reach the throttle. I will never give away only 1cm of the available space. Knock-knees ("X-Beine") might help .
I wonder how Werner manages it to reach the throttle?

The limited space just for the right leg is the reason why I'm forced to sit nearly always in the same position. Only the retrofitted cruise control allows me now to rest my right leg in a different position. This is why the CC is absolutely essential for me.

Ok, I'm not alone. This already helps me somewhat

Thanks for your reply,

I always had manual seats, and always glued a sort of a cushion on the console.... now I've found some pieces of this high density foam in the warehouse of my work.
A colleague was just throwing them in the dustbin, when I saw them and cried "That's what I'm always have been looking for, can I have them? "

I also find the seats not very good (but I did have a Saab before). I am average height, but have the seat all the way back and at the lowest level. Then I have the steering wheel pulled all the way towards me. This means my thighs are flat on the seat and I can stretch my legs. My right arm (window side) then aches after a bit.

It took me a while to find a good position. My first long trip I was desparate to get out after 1 hour. Sore backside...

The trouble is if you raise the seat it also tips forward. I miss the Saab's seats .

I love the seats - even after very long drives I don't have any problem. But maybe the leather seats are somehow different?

No they aren't - I checked this at the motor show in Brussels in January of this year.

The seats are OK in terms of back support (I've a terrible sensible and somewhile painfull back, but I never had a better seat before regarding back support - of course this is very personal) but for some of us including myself they aren't OK in terms of thigh support.

I think they are (as the EV2 is, in fact, a Peugeot, with Peugeot/Citroën/Fiat/Lancia badges on it, depending) designed for French (south European) people who are, in general, a little shorter/smaller compared to the average German / Dutch / Belgian / ....... / person.

Yes, I am lucky to be a bit more of french (south europes) length in this case!
But peoples anamoty is a complex theme, and it's hard to design a seat which is perfect for persons from 1,7 to 2 meters and 60 to 120 kg and and and...

Leather seats seem to support a bit better...

I have found a difference in the design and shape of the seat supports between the 2003 EV2 and the 2008 EV2.

Still front support could be much better...
