If there where radioactiv partikels to be expected they probably would have allowed washing the car on the street. They could save lamps in the gully.

Chnaged my mind

I used to go to a wash plant, but after some not so nice experience in April, I changed my mind. Although my former wash plant is very new and only uses textile stripes, it did some scratches all over the bonnet and roof. Even the windshield got same scratches. I had more luck with the wash plant owner and his insurance than Holger, they paid for the damage, but I won't use a wash plant in the future again.

A question @ the austrian members:
Know everyone a car wash with textile brushes in or around vienna?(or Korneuburg, Tulln, Stockerau, Krems.... - I searching for that.

No, but I can offer some addresses of carwash with fabric stripes at ÖMV petrol stations - in Budapest.

The only thing I know in vienna is Carat. Its better than textile but also more expensive. But I think you are looking for a cheaper one.

Yes, I`m sure too.
But the car is dirty and we don`t want to have some scratches.

2 possibilities:
  • wash by (wifes)hand or
  • cleaned by the girls of carat

@ qzdcg8,

I don`t have a cross country vehicle - no chance to "enter" the wash-box.

Handwash for me, it helps to get to know the outside of the vehicle. I can spot problems this way, such as loose trim, broken lights, badly chipped paint etc. I like to think of it as preventative maintenance. The car washes in the UK seem to be a little too vigorous on the clear coat lacquer for my liking.

I mostly wash the car at home, with a high pressure cleaner, but this is not always possible in the winter. I took advantage of warm weather a month ago, but the last time I went to a nearby gasoline station which has a brushless (high pressure water only) washing system. The brushless system is not good enough if there is a lot of hard-to-remove dirt on the car, but then only a hand wash with polishing will be good enough anyway, IMHO.

Btw, when hand-washing, do you prefer to use a brush mounted on the high pressure cleaner or do you prefer to use an old-fashioned sponge? I have a soft brush for the high-pressure cleaner, but I'm not that fond of the results, so I might go back to the old-fashioned way next time. I always use the HP cleaner to remove as much dirt as possible before using any brush or sponge, though.
