Sorry Bombus, you are right, the Discovery and XC90 are more expensive (approx £30k instead of £25k for a full spec EV2).
My idea is to purchase a demonstrator or very young used one, which will bring the price at the same level as a full spec EV2.

I vote yes..of course...

But the next time i ll try to buy it new..and a phedra...

ok that all EV2 are 80-90% the same car...only the front and rear are different for each manufacturer...

but the inside of a PHEDRA is the most beautiful of all of them...

its my opinion...just a opinion...dont me....

But for me it wasn't worth a difference of about 2.500€ compared to the C8 Exclusive.

So Ron, may be we'll start an LR3 (the US name for the new Disco) forum when you and I swap our EV2's for Discos....

Good idea over the demonstrator - I have a mate who works in the service department of Williams Land Rover, Manchester (where all the City & United stars take theres) - next year, I'll be asking him to keep an eye out!

Are they still assembled in Solihull/B'ham? If so, I live right next door.....

No - unrepentant - Mainly garage's fault

Well I too would agree with those that say the car (807 from March 2003) is good, particularly the convenient doors or the quietness or the comfort. My kids love it too ("Cherry Blossom") and were not happy to hear it will soon disappear (leasing period over).

However the following reasons would say no :

1. I have had a filter problem (5 visits), new seat (argue over who pays), a problem with the indicator (5 visits to date & no solution), broken door handle, endless RT3 software Problems (forced overnight stop in Paris due to battery, missed meeting in Belgium), Radio wouldn't turn off on Monday (car in garage since then). Neither of the garages proved competent at solving these problems & didn't seem to care that this was costing me hours of my time bringing it in & taking hire cars to get to work .. To compensate they gave me a free France Navi-CD once ordered by their customer service manager. It didn't work as it was for Siemens ! Last straw was seat belt buckle breaking on front passenger seat 1/2 way to France so I had to repack the car at 11 pm after driving for 10 hours ..
2. I am fed up with having to be rude / aggressive or slaming down printouts from eurovan2 at my dealer to prove that it the car & not the driver that has the problem. (I had this problem previously with a Sharan, so perhaps my idea of rudeness / aggressive is "run of the mill" for garages.)
3. Mines a leased company car. The leasing company got over 25% discount on the listprice but I pay the tax on the list not paid price. I would prefer Peugeot / Citroen etc. to drop their prices & not give big discounts or generous trade-ins. I will specifically be buying a cheaper car to tax.

IF it had been reliable & given me no problems, I would definitely re-recommend it. But it hasn't and the local garages have proven neither competent nor enthusiastic to solve my problems. Probably, my next car's a Toyota.

In case you would have to decide today wether to buy again an EV2 or not, how would you opt for, knowing all the details we have shared in this forum?
This is a poll from a time were the EV2 still had some "minor bugs". Then more than 70 % would by an EV2 again. The result should be even better now.

Interesting to re-read this thread - it took me 10 more months to be able to afford the car I wanted back in April 2005. What I see now on this forum are complaints about how much it costs to fix things when the car is out of warranty....

The running costs of an out-of-warranty EV1 are hopless so I can't even imagine the costs for running the EV2. This is one of the under-estimated reasons for NOT buying an EV2/EV3 but switching to a lot cheaper [apparently] Picasso.
Even the 5-seater is bigger than my EV1, allowing just millimeters difference between the Grand C4 Picasso and the EV2. The quality with the Exclusive version being amazing, better than that of EV2 I believe. What about that? Are you going to ban me?

If the quality is still the same, I will start looking for a 7 seat SUV like Discovery or XC90....

Overall I'm happy with the car, but I can not accept the various problems, faults, etc etc of a £25k car.
...and what makes you think a Disco or a XC90 are reliable cars?
Not only are they generally less practical and simply smaller on the inside [while bigger and harder to handle in town] than EVs but also less safe [if you're a stars amount maniac that is ]

Oh, and did I mention economy? Same, PSA 2.7 HDi engines [EV and Disco] but compare the weight and consumption! Volvo is a different matter as far as engines are concerned, of course.

Still - when you look at DEKRA or TUV reliability reps, you'll see what level Volvo [in fact a Ford] and Disco would reach...

After 19 months I am still satisfied.

I hope it will be so until to our common end.

the C4 Picasso as 7seater is a great car, but without sliding doors?
