I've heard that Gerd has sold the page to Renault since he's going to change his car to a Ssang Young Radius anyhow soon... So they are starting to take it over piece by piece...

Car: Thinking about new EV2
Country of origin:
Germany

Hi,
I'm thinking to replace my car (Renault Grand Scenic) with a bigger one, because our family will grow again
For me it'll be the choice between the Eurovan and the Grand Espace then.
Of course some of you will reply now it should be an EV2. And the same guys, in another thread complain about their EV2 they are owning.
So please, I know about the sliding doors and I know about the 12 cm more lenght of Grand Espace. Further I know that the Espace is more expensive.
For me the interesting data would be,
- service costs
- goodwill of Peug,Citr,Lan,Fia even when the guarantee is over.
- Quality of interior after a couple of years.
- Removing of seats. Easier in the EV2 or in the Espace (after the faclift)?
- Any problems with the Particlefilter?
- Is it recommended to buy a guarantee extension?
- Leather or tissue (No alcantara, I've read the tread. It seems as worse as with Renault)?

Finally, the Phedristis will recommend me to buy a Phedra and the others a 807, C8, Ulysee.
Is there anybody in this forum who has several times owned an EV2 but from different brands? What woud be your reommendation?

Where is it cheaper to buy. In Belgium or in Germany?

Feel free to send/post your answer in english, french, dutch or german.

Thank you for your posts in advance and have a nice day!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

As I read you already have searched the forum. What more can I say?

Leather or tissue?
- With kids I would recomend Leather. Longlasting and easy to clean.

Is it recommended to buy a guarantee extension?
- we had some discussions here about it. With my car all faults have occoured in the first years within guarantee (except ignition coils but that is a V6 specific problem)

Removing of seats. Easier in the EV2 or in the Espace (after the faclift)?
- I don't know the Espace but in the EV2 it is easy if you know how. The seats are not as heavy as the seats in the voyager/carnival.

Quality of interior after a couple of years.
- No problems so far.

goodwill of Peug,Citr,Lan,Fia even when the guarantee is over.
-I think that also depends on the garage. Some members made good experiences, some don't.

service costs
- I think they are normal, but I don't have the exact amount of the last service in mind. But here are also some diskussions about service costs in the formum.

Do you have already a certain EV2 in mind?

Well, I would like to have the back of the C8 because of the 4 backlight bulbs, combined with the front of the 807 .
The Phedra is very elegant inside, but nothing for a family with 3 kids. Besides this, the number of garages is more limited in case of service, repairs, etc.

Summing it up, I guess it'll be the C8, because bargaining is easier with Cit than with Peug either in Belgium or in Germany.

Problem, which makes the comparision difficult are the different lines and equipment, first of all between Peug and Cit and further between German versions and Belgium versions.

Concerning your remark about leather:
Nowadays only those parts of the seat which have contact to the driver/passenger are in leather. The rest looks like leather but is plastic.
Further, in summer with short trousers you'll burn your legs (and even more ) when you enter your car after having it parked for a couple of hours in the sun and in winter you'll need a seat heating, because the leather becomes damn cold. So, where is the advantage in having leather seats? As long as your kids don't get seasick and puke all over the tissue, I do not really see the advantage of leather....

You asked wether to take leather or tissue(?) seats, and I have told you that for me leater is the best choice. It you have an ohter opinion its up to you to take other seats.
And if you don't believe that kids dirty your seats, whats the problem with the phedra interior?

@ Werner807HDI:
Thank you Werner, but there a still a couple of months to go.
Estimated delivery will be the 18th of October.

@Phedra70:
Please don't understand me wrong. I'm not critizising owners with leather seats in their cars. I only wanted to explain that if I would have the choice I would go for another nice little extra option than opting for leather seats. Everybody has its own preferences and should equip his car with what seems necessary to him. So please excuse for causing any missunderstanding here.
My questions was more related to a comparison on quality durability issues between the leather seats and the tissue seats of the Eurovan.
To be precise: Would the tissue-seat owners next time buy leather instead, or vice-versa would the leather-seat owners more tend to by tissue the next time?

I think everyone who complained about the seat-foam "des-integrating" and having the sides of the seat marked/damaged by getting in and out of the car, all had cloth seats. I don't think anyone reported this yet with leather seats?

Possibly the durability of leather is better if looked after properly...
The rest of the pro's and con's is mainly personal preference.

For example, ordering a C8 or 807 with leather seats also means that you get the alcantara inlays in the doors and dashboard. In my opinion it looks better, but for me it wasn't worth the extra ££

Hey, our previous car was a Serena, too! The 807 is a relief in comparision... our Serena broke down after 7 years and we sold it as it was (with a damaged engine). But it had it virtues, like the sliding doors or the quite practical seat arrangement. And it was comparatively cheap and as such just the right car for us as we got our fourth child.

When buying the 807, we considered Espace, but didn't like the lack of sliding doors in the new version. We also looked at Mitsubishi Grandis, but the 3rd row seats are really only "emergency seats". Toyota Previa was also considered, but it was just disappearing from the market and thus difficult to get new and ridiculously expensive as used. We also briefly looked at smaller cars (Mazda 5, Touran, Zafira). We never considered Voyager because of the bad crash test results.

Until the Crash-results: The Voyager...
Until the first test-drive: The Grand Espace...
Until the Leasing Offert: The Sharan/Alhambra (and the lousy crash results)

After a Two-Week-Test-drive with an Uly in the holidays it was clear: An (Italian) EV2!!

Well my warranty will be running out in 2 years so with the EV "reliability" or rather lach thereof I will have to replace it by then.

At the moment I am quite sure it's going to be a S-max or GAlaxy.
As the children are not toddlers any more what's the big advantage of the sliding doors???

Besides the fact that my right one is making noises when I dive on a curbe or down one an of lately my left one started as well!! Seems to by the build quality !!

As for the folding seats in the rear: our three children always sit in row2 and with ev2 I always seem to have the wrong configuration in row3:
ie no seat when friends need a ride or 2 seats in when I need the space.

So I see the logic behind the Galaxy's flexible seat system.

Just because this is a great forum doesn' mean I need to buy an inferior car .... again

The ability to park in a very narrow space and actually get out of the car without having to crawl all the way to the back door!
