Car: Thinking about new EV2
Country of origin:
Austria

Poll: Main concurrent to EV2

Which car was the final concurrent before you decided to buy your EV2?

Sharan/Alhambra/Galaxy old

S-Max/Galaxy new

Espace

Voyager

smaller minivan (Touran, Zafira, Mazda5....)

other type (kombi, SUV,cabrio.....)

Only EV2! Never even started thinking of another car!

At the moment I do my final testdriving. My main concurrent to the EV2 is the S-Max. High quality feeling, responsive sporty ride and 4 years warranty(in Austria) are strong contenders against the EV2 and his goodies. On the other side the ride is very unconfortable, the interior is boring and I am missing the sliding doors

......

for me:

i have tested many cars before i buy my C8.

touran and sharan - no possibility for me - because i´ll never want a vw.
ALSHGA: i wont have a car which is "old and often seen on the road"
new galaxy: too late - but i have a look at the car - never ever i want buy this car - the handling of the rear seats is just poor.

after that my "family" rices up to 5 and 2 dogs - i need a big car as well.
so just espace and yoyager and the ev2 were still in race.
by the voyager i don´t like the seats in the rear .
the espace was for me to "mickey-mouse like".
carbival and co: cheap and not realy nice.

but "i was in love" with the ev2 since i comes out in the year 2002(?).
therefore i bought my c8.

I took the Espace into choice, but only at the beginning - then it was clear that after an EV1 it can only be a EV2!

This portal has the 99,99% of responsibility for me discovering the EV2 planet! I don't remember when and why I stepped in this forum, but the "familiar" atmosphere I felt here did really pleased me and brought me on the though to change my car.
So I and and and finally decided without a real race with other models; only for curiosity I looked at the MB Viano (extremely expensive), the Voyager and the Carnival (both ).

I looked at a Mazda MPV, but after I saw the 807 the decision was: EV2!

First I saw live P807 at a presentation my pug dealer was performing. At that time I thougth "Wow...but very expensive. I'll better go for EV1". But after some time I've bought P406 Sport Sedan and forgot about EV until we will buy more kids . And finaly, last year my dealer ( ) said that at the end of 2006 there will brand new model of and we decided - its time for EV2. ShaGalAmbra and Espace doesnt have sliding doors. Voyager - swings. Carnival - And EV2 inside is so different, so comfortable, cosy and homelike

I also like the S-Max and the new C4 Picasso. But without sliding doors they are no competitors for the EV2.
Before I have bougt the EV2 I have looked to Gran Scenic and Touran (too small, no sliding doors), Sharan/Alhambra (too old, no sliding doors) and Voyager (old, bad NCAP results and the dealer wasn't able to arange a testdrive at that time).

Hiya,

Just my thoughts.

I had to replace my 8 year old (from new) Nissan Serena which had sliding rear doors on both sides. Only vehicles with sliding rear doors that I shortlisted were:

Voyager
Kia Sedona
Peugeot 807
Citroen C8

I did look at the Sharan, Alhambra and Galaxy (old) but they had no sliding doors and did not feel as comfortable or roomy as the EV2.

The new Glaxaxy was okay save for the rear seats that were horrible thin plasticky things.

The Voyager was also okay but the seats in the middle and rear were not very nice, and I didn't like the feel and performance of the Kia Sedona.

So it came down to the 807 or C8. I chose the C8 because it had more room in the driver side footwell than the 807. The front centre console seems smaller on the C8??? Also there is an indent (gap) at the bottom (driver side) of the cntre console on the C8 which gives a driver with big feet like me more room. Also there was bigger discounts on the C8 and I managed to get a new Diesel Automatic.

Regards,

Hm, as far as I know those parts are the same in all four EV2. Maybe the cars you looked at just had different floor mats?

Hello mspider81,

Thanks for your post. I also thought it was strange. I originally decided to purchase the 807 but as I mentioned I then looked at the C8 due to the discounts and 0% finance. But when I sat in a couple of C8s both manual and automatic I seemed to noticed that there is a little bit more space in the footwell area when compared to a few 807s I sat in.

I found that there was a little gap at the bottom of the centre console that allowed me to position my left foot stretched out so that it was easier to push down the brake (on an automatic) without my left foot getting in the way.

I know it sounds strange but I found this on the 4 807s and 3 C8s I looked at at different dealers.

Maybe its a UK thing? Anyone else come across this?

Regards,

BT
