Hoi Detlef,

You mean the time that a message is diplayed when you're nearby a radar?

A timesetting can be adjusted in the menu:
Navigation - Risczones
Here you can enter the duration. Maybe that's the timeadjustment that you are looking for.

Yes that is correct. But this attitude changed with me just the audible warning. Not the time that a message is diplayed.

POI searching by name in the whole country

Does anyone know how to search to a specific POI by name in the whole country. Now you must first enter a city name or select around the car, then you must select POI and catechorie. The result are a radius for about 40 km. But I want for example: There is a restaurant chain with the name " Hajé" . Give me a list of all de POI with that name.

In France, it works great for french speed traps. I can also see speed traps from other countries in the map when my RTx is in France.

But I'd like to be sure they are displayed (and if the alert are working) when the car is in another country. My guess isit is OK, but I'm not 100% sure.

The only drawback of this unusual structure is, near the borders, speed traps are declared twice. It doesn't care for the map display (only one is displayed), but I don't know what happen for the alerts.

Can anybody not from France install this base and tell me if speed traps are displayed and if alert are working?

To install the new database (available here) , unzip the archive (keep the folders and don't put all files in the root) on a USB key or on a CD. Puld (or insert it), answer NO the the first question (there is no need to demove the previous database if it exists) then answer YES to install the new database.

Thanks to the installation script, the base can be deleted after installation, just plug the key again and answer YES at the first question. Installing another database will also remove the current one.

Thanks a lot in advance.
Helo,

I burned a CD as described above. After inserting the CD I get a popup-window which tells me
to have the engine runing during the update and asks if the system schould be restarted yes/no.
My engine is already running, SIM card is out. If I anwer "yes", RT4 reboots an the story is the same, if I anwer "no" it ejects CD.

It seems that the RT4 doesn't recognize the running engine.
Software is 8.11

Do you have any idea what could be wrong?

thx

Hi
I think the system does not recognise at all a running engine. It is just telling you that you should run the engine, to make sure that the system is not going in power save mode during update.
But now to the problem: janfi67 is talking about the RT5 you are talking about RT4.
Did you try if system made the upgrade already? Because when I update some thing on mine it always comes back with the same questions.

just to make sure

Hannes

Hi Hannes,

in February janfi67 wrote in this thread:
" I've tested the zip before uploading it (and I just dis it again), and the installation runs fine on my RT4"

So I thought, it would also work on mine.
I checked if something has changed, but didn't find any changes.
Maybe I will have to activate something...I try to get deeper during the next days.

Greetings
Klaus

Answer NO to the first question (delete the existing database? with a required reboot) then YES to the second one (install the new database?). RTX doesn't reboot after the database installation but briefly displays a message telling the upgrade has been done then ejects the CD.

RT4 and RT5 have exactly the same behaviour, no difference.

Map or database upgrade scripts (even the official ones ) don't check the engine is really running. The warning message is always displayed but the upgrade can be launched even with the engine not running..

#+Hi Klaus!
It works exactly as janfi67 described!

@ janfi67:
The database works fine - tested in Austria with alert visual and audio!!
No icon on the map?

Thanks for your effort you are putting in this!

Hi janfi67,

thanks for reply. I think the main problem really was the correct order for
the anwers. I didn't give attention to the french text (unfortunately I'm not
able to speak french language) and I think I anwered "yes" first.

So the problem was between RT4 and the driver seat

Now I was able to get to the next step, but the RT4 said, that it was checking
the content of the CD - and did nothing more. No progress bar or something else. No flashing light at the CD-ROM drive (as symbol for access).
After half an hour I ejected the CD, tried again, but again after passing the first dialogue it checked Cd content and "fell asleep".
I checked for any new entries in "Guidance options" but there was nothing.

I will give one more try in the evening, maybe with a new CD.

I would like to know if this database is also compatible to the Citroen MyWay resp. Peugeot Wip Nav systems? Just copying the files and folders on the SD card doesn´t work....would have been too easy!

Problems patching map

Hi,
I am using the awesome RTxMapEditor. With my RT4, I managed to add radar sites using sw version 7.11 and 0.6.0.0 of RTxMapEditor. I then upgraded my RT4 to version 8.11 with no problem. I changed the mapeditor sw version setting to 8.11 and then added the radar icon, but I didn't notice any difference. I also tried to repatch the map with different radar names (much shorter) - this didn't seem to work. I also tried to add an alert database - this didn't seem to work either.

So, now I have:
  • my old radar names
  • no radar icons
  • in guidance options, "Set parameters for risk areas" is greyed out and not usable
  • in the map details bit, I don't get the automatic control option under Automobile and public transport
Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards
Richard
