RT4, RT5, WIP COM version 8.10 and speed trap alerts

Hello everybody.

Up to now, RTxMapEditor was able to modify Navteq maps for RT3, RT4 and WIP COM to add POI to a map.

I’ve started to modify it (it far form finished) to let him generates database for speed trap alerts (sound and text) available in 8.1 version.

Here are 2 screenshots from the main screen:

Fixed speed traps:

Fixed and mobile speed traps:

There is only one icon and one sound defined, the difference between fixed and mobile will be done only by the alert popup displayed when you’re close to a speed trap with different text.

I’ve not yet tested the alert because my RT4 is not in my vehicle but on my desktop connected to my PC. Just some work to make a plug, to connect it to my laptop and I’ll test it.

Do not expect a new version of RTxMapEditor in the next days, I’ve still a lot of work to do.

It is finally possible to use several icons...

Here, radar icon for fixed speed traps and dangerous zones icon for the mobile ones

Or every available ici, here for example car rental icon for the mobile radar.

I've to check the alert is still working with these icons...

great

This is first class news as this week my pda with tom tom on it which i still keep in the car just so i get a sound when near to cameras has given up on me i was thinking of getting a new tom tom just for the sound. So when you have it all working and we have another update to you fantastic program will it work with a rt4 and 7.10 or will a update to the rt4 soft be needed as well to above 7.10. I have yet to see a place to download ver 8 and i know you have given out warning that some of the updates may not work with rt4 only rt5. So thanks agn for all the work you do, i now await the result and if you need a beta tester for uk/ire am always ready to help.

To have visual and sound alert on a RT4, you'll have to update it in 8.10Dsomething. I don't know exactly which version will be released, probably the 11.

Everybody is waiting for it, but I don't know when it will be really available. I just know it runs fine on a RT4.

I've never found this version in the WEB, but if you find it, be very carefull.
Nothing less than 8.10D11. the 8.0, as far as I know doesn't run on a RT4, only on RT5. And previous 8.10D may have a lot of bugs.

If someone here has a RT5 (or RT4) in 8.10D-R11 (only this version) and want to test the visual and audible alert, contact me by PM.

I'm able to generate all the needed files. It works fine for France, but I'd like to check it works also for other countries.

You have just to provide me a list of fixed/mobile speed traps in .asc files and the copy of your configuration files (use RTxMapEditor to copy it into a USB key).

The overspeed feature will work only if the speed is included in the speed trap name

Nobody with a RT5 (or RT4) in 8.10D-R11 ?

Alert have been successfully tested with french speed traps, I'd like to test other countries if possible before releasing RTxMapEditor0600

Would love to test your new version, but I have v8.00.I.R1 in my car.
Is there an upgrade possible from 8.00 to 8.10 ?
Does anybody have this new release ?

Are there more new features in 8.10 execept BT support ?

I just need a speed trap list of your country, no file from the RTx.

I sent you a PM with my email for the list you use.

The alert database for benelux is here : http://rt3mapeditor.eurovan2.com/AlertBenelux.zip

The alert database for UK has been successfully tested.

To install it on a RTx in 8.10D-R11 version you can :

* unzip AlertBenelux.zip in an empty USB key (kee the directory structure) and plug it into the RTx's USB plug

* Burn a CD-R/CD-RW with the content of AlertBenelux.zip and insert it.

A preliminary version of RTxMapEditor0600 with detailled installation steps and alert usage is available here : http://rt3mapeditor.eurovan2.com/use...or-prel-en.pdf

The documentation is not 100% accurate :

* The alert popup differs a little bit

* Your RTx may need to be configured by Proxia/Lexia to take the database into account. Some users see only the alert menu, other both and other none of them. I'm working to avoid the Lexia/Proxia configuration

Let me know what happened for you.

Janfi67, im going to test the benelux files on my way home, but for the speeddisplay. How do i differentiate between 80 and 100 Km/H?
Do i make different files or do we need 1 file with the speed in the name of the speedtrap?
Can you give an example for the different rows in an asc file ?
