Exclamation How do I add another audio input to the RT3?

Awesome, followed the instructions about adding extra inputs via the audio channels from the CD Changer and now have the CD Changer, aftermarket DVD player (for my son in the back), & my iPOD all running through the car speakers via a £20 audio switch box bought from Maplins.

Thanks a lot for the original post (How do I add another another audio input to the RT3?) and detailed instructions.

Attached are a few pics of the result. NOTE: My CD Changer is installed between the front seats rather than the glove box which probably made things easier too.

Thanks again,
Andrew

Here's some more detail about what I actually did...
    • Get access to the wiring at the back of the DVD Changer (this was easy for me as it is stored between the driver and passenger seat - see picture 3).
    • Locate the following cables - grey (audio right), orange (audio left), and green (audio ground).
    • Cut these cables and add connectors to both sets of cables (see picture 1). I used phono connectors as the audio switch box I bought uses phono input and outputs (Here's a link to the switch box ... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...5081&doy=21m9D).
    • Use some cable insulation tape to tidy up the wires and prevent them from touching each other (see picture 2).
    • Lastly, simply plug them in to the appropriate sockets of the audio switch box (see picture 4 & 5).
    • I have used input 2 for the CD Changer and have added inputs for a DVD player at input 3 and iPOD at input 4. (I still have input 1 available). Obvioulsy as far as the Navidrive system is concerned, it is still using the CD changer - all I am doing is sending different audio signals from other sources - so it doesn't know any different.

Could you please provide some more detailed explanation on what you've done? Also, please post the link to the thread you are referring to. Please modify your existing post to keep the info in one post. Thanks!

Cool...really good work....

I wish that there was a way to "simulate" a CD changer to my RD3 so I could use that input too, but this has been discussed in the past:

Regards,
KalleH
