Exclamation How to repair seats which do not uplift anymore - safety lock

After being unable to uplift a seat anymore and some discussions in the forum on locking the seats to prevent from being stolen, here's a tip on how to repair or protect your seat.
(Please note that this has only been tested with the outer seats of the 2nd or 3rd row but not with the center seat of the 2nd row when available.)

1. The mechanics of the seat lock and uplifting mechanism
When folding a seat by pulling the lever on the outer side the rear seat locks will be released from the rails on the floor. This is being done by support of a simple steel wire.

2. Attach or detach the seat lock mechanism
The steel wire can be detached either manually or accidentally, as happend to me already twice. Fixing is quite simple as the wire needs to be clamped into a bracket and may just jump off when pulling the lever for folding the seat.

Please see the attached pictures for illustration.

3. Preventing the seats from being stolen
Please note that the seat lock is mechanically being released by support of a steel wire which is clamped into the seat base at two positions, see picture 2 for details.

When one of these two connections is detached the steel wire can no longer be stretched and unlock the seat when folding the seat, see picture 3. The seat can only be placed into the table position.

4. Preventing the steel wire from jumping off
To prevent the clamped connection to jump off use a cable tie fixed around the connection, see picture 4 for details.

That's it!
