Leaky air seals - another method

I also had a draught blowing through the door vent seals that [are supposed to] seal against the B pillar trim....
I liked the idea of the additional rubber ring from the drain pipe as previously suggested - but didn't particularly like the look of it !

I noticed that the lower trim on the B pillar was sloppy and found that there was nothing to hold it in place and therefore keep it pressed against the seal at the back of the door, hence a large gap was present, so I set about a method of closing the gaps as follows - passenger side shown (RHD)

The bracket used is a small right-angled one about 12mm long with a hole in each "leg" and is typically used in kitchen units, as nothing is visible after completion I think this looks a lot neater and it appears to work OK.

Remove this floor trim to gain access to the "B" pillar







The large gap between the internal trim and the B pillar

The small bracket I fitted to the B pillar - this will be covered later by the trim and will not be seen at all
Note : you need to leave about 4mm gap otherwise the door seal will not fit back in !








These 2 fixings at the top of the lower trim on the B pillar, had popped out,
Note : unscrew the screws before pushing them back in and make sure they "click" in otherwise they will come straight out again !!







The much reduced gap from picture 2 after the trim had been carefully levered over the small bracket fitted in picture 4







Now there is no gap - compare with picture 3 !
