Hi, I am struggling with changing rd4 for rt3, the only problem i think I have is the connection on the rear of the colour lcd, I can see that the 2 orange cables go no probs, but while the rd4s mono screen has 4 cables, the rt3s colour has 5, any idea's, thanks in advance, Ian

Hi!
I'm also going to replace RD4 to RT3 in my 407, and I have some questions to harrysmith and others who have already done this replacement:

1) At first, I want to buy RT3 main unit and insert it instead of RD4, without changing the display. Later also replace the display. So, i wonder whether RT3, designed for color display, will also work with monochromatic RD4 display, or not?

2) Does the replacement require any programming with PPS, i.e. writing new vehicle's VIN into RT3 or whatever? If yes, pls tell what exactly must be done.

Big thanks in advance!

RT3 for mono won't work with color.

yes, of course every changing needs the PPS. even the changing of a display needs the PPS

And what exactly must be done in PPS? I need to explain this to technicians in the garage, they are not very qualified here...

For the PPS programming you need to find someone that did get this done before and has documented this.
A good source for PPS instructions has been the Peugeotdata site: 407 (was also mentioned in the presentation link in my previous post).

Regards,
Rainer

AFAIK there is only an adapter from Connects2 for the CAN RD4, but Pioneer only:
Connects 2,Car Audio integration specialists

Hi....thanks for the link....I went through it but I'm having difficulty understanding everything.

If I get a RT3 and a screen from a 407 will the list of components in your link be sufficent for the RT3 to work?

Are all of the cables "plugandplay" or is there any soldering requrired? (assuming i don't need the parrot instalation)?

Do you have any idea what the cost of the necessary components is (cables, vents etc.), besides the screen and rt3?

Thanks again

P.S: Is it possible just to replace my rd4 with rt3 and keep the mochrome display (and maybe later install the screen)???

Hi again.
If you get a screen from a 407 you wont have to solde inside it to solve the
"upside down" problem.
The major part of the cables and parts are "plug and play", excepting the transformation of the RD4 connector to RT3 (there are slighty differences in the pinout); thats why the parrot cable: for not touching the original car connector.
If you dont install the RT3 screen, u wont be able to check what are u doing (the original RD4 screen wont show you the informations about audio, telefone, etc).

Regards
