RT4 - upgrade from 7.02 to 7.10 fails; help please
Good Morning to everyone,
Yesterday, after reading different posts about the 7.10 upgrade and also having upgraded successfully in the past an RT3 on my previous 307, I decided to try the upgrade on my 308 RT4 which was running on 7.02 since i received it in early January this year. So I did burn both CDs images contained in the downloaded file, the firmware and the software. Then i first loaded in my RT4 the firmware CD which was read and it was checked then nothing happened for few seconds, then it was ejected, went back in twice...etc.... When this was done, I inserted the software CD 7.10 and the update started without any problems. It did a first part where I remeber at the bottom of the screen CRC was written. Then it copied files (1 of 2 and then 2 of 2) then it said something about boot something, then the screen went black, CD was ejected and the RT4 went into what looked like a restart. But it never restarted. ![]() Instead: - I would see the Peugeot splash screen, then nothing else and the red light above the SOS button would turn on and then off. - The 7.10 software CD is stuck in the RT4; using the eject button does not get it out. - After a while i turned off the engine and tried to eject the CD, no success - in fact, it looks like the RT4 tries to start and it fails, so each time, it turns off and tries again. if you look at it for few minutes, you get the feeling that there is a certain sequence wit hthe orange light above the SOS button turning on and I can hear a brief noise like if the CD was rotating or may be it is the HD. I have read many posts on the forum and ran into different things where people suggested a reset using the DARK button. I have tried this last night for 10 seconds but in this elapsed time, my RT4 probably turn off twice as a minimum, I do not know if it has any effect. For the RT3, reset was possible disconnecting the battery first. It is different on RT4 ? Is it just pressing the DARK button 10 seconds ? With or without the engine running ? Does anyone have some idea on how I could get out of this situation without having to go to my Peigeot dealer ? Any manual way to eject the CD while power is off ? Your suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks a lot |

Shit man, I hope that there is some whone to help you with this problem.
Are you sure that de bootcd (firmware) has done its update. When I compare the content of the firmware cd with the update 7.11, there are a few files missing!!! Is there some one on this site to check this? ![]() ![]() |

Thanks cor538; yes I do hope someone on this forum will have a clue to help me getting out of this shi..... situation.
Last night I tried the credit card technic to force the CD ejection but without any success. I am really stuck. The only thing I am thinking about at the moment is to disconnect the car battery to see if it could help..... but I doubt it. Have a good one |

Hi Helios,
I can only advise from my experience with RT3 but the dark button there works regardless of engine running or not. Pressing the button for 10 or so seconds should reset the unit (back to the startup logo as if you would switch on the ignition). Based on what you have tried already, I would suggest to disconnect the battery to see if that helps. What you need to try to achieve with the credit card is to stop the cd from starting to spin. The old RT3 would then eject the cd as it can't read from it. Hopefully the RT4 works the same way. Good luck, hope you get it resolved... ![]()

Good evening,
Ron807, thanks a lot for your advice and support. I have tried the DARK button unfortunately the RT4 is in a trying to start loop mode that lasts less than 10 secs so may be DARK button does not have time to trigger the reset. As far as disconnecting the battery, I did that also several times without success. I disconnected the battery for about 4 mins so may be it is not enough. May be I should try to disconnect it for the whole night; may be it would work. The credit card also I have tried numerous times to without success. I am really running out of ideas here. May be I should force the CD out with I dod not know what and then just go to Peugeot andd tell them it stopped to work. If I go now with the CD in they will know what I was trying to do and it will void the warranty. Thanks and great weekend to everyone. |

Sorry to hear of your plight. I have a Citroen C5 with an RT4. Recently, the dealer tried to upgrade the software but (he was having a bad day!) inserted an upgrade disk for an RT3 by mistake. Same result. The CD stuck in the system and eventually, after long discussions with Citroen technical and MM, they had to replace the entire RT4 unit under warranty. Good luck to you.

Good evening,
I had the same problem a few weeks ago, I managed to restart the system by changing the language of RT4, in this way RT4 must make a reboot, after the language was changed the system must tell you that rebooting, answer YES, at this point the screen goes black, wait a minute and then press for 10 seconds the DARK button, so that the CD was ejected and everything is taken to work to perfection. I hope this can help you. Good luck |

The replacement RT4 is still on the original 7.02 software. I'm planning to try the upgrade with the ISOs available here as the dealer is reluctant! I use a standard SIM and it works well. The original RT4 unit used to reset quite a lot (other posts have commented on this). The replacement never has (yet!), during daily use for 9 months, which makes me think perhaps the problem in hardware related?
